How Lend a Friend Works

Simply click on the button below and submit your details. One of our team will reach out soon to have a chat about how we can help.

Together, we’ll make a plan​

During our chat, we will work with you to make a personalised Help Plan, so all your Helpers will know exactly how you like to be supported, what your goals are, and how to achieve them safely.

Meet Our Friends

We will send you videos of the friends we think will match you best. Once you choose a few helpers to meet in person, if its a match, you’re officially part of the Lend A Friend team!

How the magic happens?

To make sure we get a good match, we like to ask you questions about yourself, your hobbies, and your disability needs. This way, we can find a helper who has similar interests and who would be a good fit for you.

We like to ask you the important questions, so we can make the perfect interview for your helper
  • We want to know what you look for in a helper
  • how they should deal with certain situations they are likely to face during their work with you
  • Any other questions you’d have for a helper or that are important to you
  • Basically, we want to make sure when we interview a worker, we are asking the questions you actually want answers to
Once we have a portfolio of potential helpers, we will provide you with their video interview so you can shortlist your favourite helper before an in person meeting

Now that you have picked a Helper, we can organise a meeting, and if all goes well, you can start receiving support!

Managing your helpers

Once you have met your helper, and agree to continue working together, you have multiple ways to receive support. You can:
  1. Talk to your helper directly! Call, text, or chat in person with them about the hours you’d like. They will have an app that all this can be tracked in
  2. You also have access to the app! You can request support directly in app and one of your helpers will be able to get back to you about what times they can assist with. You can also see upcoming appointments, your case notes, and other important info in app
  3. You can talk to the Lend A Friend support team or your care manager, and they can roster helpers for you at the times you like
