FAQ's

STA is NDIS funding from a Participant’s Core budget that can be used for respite. This is to give primary carers a break from supporting an NDIS participant, and instead the STA Provider will be providing all the support for the Participant, including covering food, transportation and accommodation costs.

STA funding can also be used for Participants to trial living independently, and to help build confidence and skills during a transition to independent living.

STA is quoted as a daily cost, and covers all food, accommodation, care services, activities and transport. Each STA stay can be different, with a focus on the Participant’s individual NDIS goals, but a reoccurring theme is building independent living skills

While most things are covered under STA funding, if participants want to go shopping for private items, like a new pair of sunglasses, this should be covered privately by the participant

The respite facility is home to Nick (the Founder of Lend A Friend) and his partner Caroline. For all overnight stays, Nick and Caroline will be available and the Primary Helpers in the home. During the day, Helpers could include Nick, Caroline or other Members of the Lend A Friend Team

All Helpers hold NDIS worker screening clearances, working with children checks, have insurance and first aid training. Beyond that, each helper may have a different degree or certificate related to disability. We have a ride range of Helpers, including some who are qualified Social Workers, Psychologists, Teachers, Fitness instructors and have qualifications in Disability.
